Mathys Tel gave Tottenham the lead in the 50th minute with a composed finish from 20 meters out, latching onto a cleared corner from Pedro Porro. It was the center-forward’s first goal since January 7. However, Tel’s high foot on Ethan Ampadu in the box 24 minutes later handed Leeds a penalty. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who had been denied a first-half spot kick after a video review, confidently converted to level the score.
Both sides endured a tense finish, including a remarkable 15 minutes of added time, but neither could find a winner. Spurs will face Chelsea away and Everton at home in their final two games, while West Ham travel to Newcastle before hosting Leeds on the last day of the season. One of the two teams will join already-relegated Burnley and Wolves in next season’s Championship.
Spurs entered the match on a high after consecutive victories and dominated the first half in possession and shots, but they could not break through until early in the second half. Tel’s goal was his first in nearly four months, but his moment of brilliance turned into one of frustration when his foul led to the equalizer.
